Historic day for Glebes secret backyard

  • Today marked a historic milestone for Mirvac with the official opening of Harold Park.

Over 100 VIP guests, key stakeholders, media and staff were present as Managing Director and CEO, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz and City of Sydney Lord Mayor, Clover Moore officiated the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of Harold Park’s first precinct, Locarno and the opening of the first stages of roads and public domain.

Uncle Chicka (Charles) Madden, a Gadigal elder, gave the welcome to country and Uncle Max performed the smoking ceremony to cleanse the area for our new residents.

Whilst the focus was on celebrating the opening of Harold Park, the event also paid tribute to the history of the site. Locarno has been named after the 1980 Miracle Mile winning horse and special guests Robin Butt, Locarno’s owner-trainer and Harold Park race-caller, Ian Craig reflected on the glory days of the former Harold Park Paceway.

The opening of Locarno encompasses 298 apartments and terraces and is the first of six precincts to be completed at Harold Park which will eventually accommodate 2,500 new residents.
