  • For Amie Coleman, head concierge for the residents of Pier at Waterfront, no request is too much trouble.

“It really is a privilege to do my job and the residents love living at Pier, which just makes coming to work even better.”

Amie Coleman treasures her role as head concierge at Pier at Waterfront near Brisbane, especially when it involves organising travel itineraries and even helping clients to style their holiday wardrobe. “Some of our residents were recently organising a trip to San Francisco and I helped them research different tours in the area. They had a great time, and when they came back, they told me all about their experiences,” she says. It’s these little things that make Amie so highly valued in the role.

The concierge is also able to organise for residents’ cars to be serviced, washed or detailed. Window washing, cleaning and general maintenance are all taken care of, if residents wish. And if they have been away on holiday or business the concierge will ensure there is a fresh sourdough loaf in the pantry and a litre of milk in the fridge. “We arrange exclusive dinners for residents at local restaurants to help build on the community feel at Pier, and Christmas is a very busy period for us helping residents organise parties,” she adds.

A natural people person, Amie works for Cambridge Management Services, which provides building management and concierge services to Mirvac’s Pier at Waterfront. An eclectic group of residents call the luxe building home, including a mix of professionals, retirees and semi-retirees and young families.

    Customer service at its finest.

The building management and concierge teams work collaboratively to ensure residents experience a five-star service every day. The team is dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service to residents, ensuring no request is too much trouble. “Residents don’t want for anything; our aim is to meet their every need,” says Amie.

The building is pet friendly, and requests often involve taking care of a resident’s much-loved pooch or pussycat. In fact, pets are treated with the same care as any other resident. In the same way as you’d expect a hotel concierge to look after your every whim, the Pier at Waterfront concierge team will also pick up residents’ dry cleaning, organise newspapers, source hard-to-find theatre tickets and even book caterers if residents are having a party.

Amie loves the fact her role is constantly changing. “It’s never the same from one day to the next. The concierge team are always on our toes, always doing different things. That’s what I enjoy about being a concierge the most.”

Coleman says to be a successful concierge you need to be very fluid, have a sense of humour and the ability to diffuse tense situations. “Discretion and diplomacy are definitely key skills of a concierge! It really is a privilege to do my job and the residents love living at Pier, which just makes coming to work even better,” she adds.
